How to adjust your watermarks opacity!

How to adjust the opacity in your watermarks!

This is actually very simple. This will probably be the fastest tutorial I will ever write. For some of you, this may already be known or already found. Again I use two main free programs for a lot of my graphic design needs. I use both GIMP and Shotcut for everything! I will be trying to keep up a weekly easy to do graphics design tutorial to help you in your graphic designs needs! If you ever have any questions please feel free to ask me anything in the comments below!

In the previous tutorial, I showed you a fast easy way to add watermarks to your videos. Now I will quickly show you how to make them slightly transparent so they do not take away from your video!

Part 1: Opening your logo

Ok so hopefully by now you have GIMP and are ready to get started. Head to the top left-hand corner and select the File drop-down menu and click on open. Find the logo you will be using and then open the file. (Ctrl+O for shortcut users)

I went ahead and opened a bigger logo to show the difference between the two logos in our videos.

Now if you look to the top right-hand corner you will see where it says opacity. That little slide bar is what you will use to change the opacity or transparency of your image. If you look under opacity you will see possible a list of layers. Some people make several layers on their logo. If your logo has only one layer then you can just easily play with the opacity and find what best suits you! I typically use 100% or 50% for all my watermarks. The choice, however, is all yours!

When you find an opacity or transparency you like and feel comfortable with, make sure you export your image. DO NOT SAVE! If you save the image it will save it as a gimp file, not a .png file.

Now all you need to do is name it at the top, and make sure your selection for the file type is set to .png and you are all set! Then just click save and add your new transparent logo to your images!

As you can see in the final product, you can easily add transparency and opacity to your logos to give them either a hard feel or a softer subtle feel in all of your videos. Now the choice is all yours on how you would like to set your logos and watermarks!

Here is my final product with both 100% and 50%! I hope you all enjoyed this little tutorial, and I hope you have a creative day!
